The Gayler Family Fundraising

During Emily's long battle against leukaemia, she became an amazing young lady.  On realising she was terminally ill I remember her saying "I am not ready to die, I really wanted to make a difference to other people's lives and now I can't", quite the contrary!!;

Amazingly thanks to Colchester United the fund-raising began very soon after Emily's death and it has helped to keep her memory alive and played a major part in realising her wish.  Please see the Colchester United fundraising page for details of their achievements. Their total fundraising was a massive £25,500.

The fundraising has continued up and down the Country in Emily's memory and we are so very proud of how she has touched people in this very special way.  She has been an inspiration to many.

Shortly after loosing our much loved and precious daughter we set up 'The Emily Begg Fund', with The Teenage Cancer Trust.  The Fund raising got off to an amazing start and has snowballed ever since.

We are so grateful to everyone who has raised money in Emily's name and every penny counts no matter how big or small.  It is thanks to some very special people The Emily Begg Fund is growing.  We would like to thank some truly special friends for giving up  their time and making such committments in supporting Emily's Fund, they enclude:-

· November 2006 – Donation from friends £ 470.00
· Donation from Julie - who after battling with Leukaemia herself is now in remission for 10 years.  Thank you Julie.
· Em's cousin Charlotte was extremely brave and did a parachutte jump, thank you and well done.  Em would be proud of you.
· Julie Sanderson, didn't know but did The London Marathon, in April 2007 for Emily.
Daniel Braham-Everett - a freind of the family, ran the London Marathon, in April 2007 for Emily.  Thank you both sincerely.

· Em's brother Daniel and Work colleagues - raised money having a dress down day in the office.
· Em's friend Fozzy (Liam Foster) – Student
Organised a concert 'This One's for Emily' - gave up his time and got the Performing Arts department on board at the Wilberforce College,  in Hull.  It was an amazing night and such an achievement.  We know Emily would have been amazed and delighted, thank you.

EMILY With FRANK LAMPARD

October 2005

We aim to raise £100,000.00 to fully equip one clinical room in the new Teenage Cancer Unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital, due to open next year.  I know Emily has a hand in all of this and she would be very proud and honored of the hard work that is going on in her name and memory.

Emily has touched the hearts of many friends and in particular our very special friends Paul and Anita Gayler, and their beautiful daughter Lauren, the fundraising has now taken on a different dimension.

Lauren was inaugurated as the May Queen in May 2007, at Roe Hampton University, and although had not actually met Emily, decided to choose Emily's charity to fund raise for the coming year, saying 'it had to be Emily's charity'.

Please see The Gaylers' fundraising page for details of the fantastic work they have already done and continue to do.

You can keep a close eye on how things are going with their fundraising on the following link:   www.teenagecancertrust.org/sponsor/MayQueenAppeal
The grand total on this site is £127,869.37

As you can see the fundraising has been incredible and our hope is to give many teenagers the opportunity to be nursed in a specialist Teenage Cancer Unit.

If anyone would like to come on board with the fund raising or help in any practicable way please do not hesitate to email us on the contact page.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE HELPED IN ANY WAY TO SUPPORT THIS CAUSE
